SIGN ASSIST MOUNT (SAM)

Ideal Placement of Your New Safety Sign

How your sign is mounted will make a difference in what type of finishing it has. Knowing where your sign will be placed will help determine hole positioning if needed.

A sign not seen is an opportunity lost. Give your sign the exposure it demands. Quickly inform the viewer about your important message, no matter how close or far away they may be.

Overall Size of Your Safety Sign

If your sign is outside where drivers need to see it, or inside where someone will be next to it, the size of your sign matters.

Determine your desired viewing distance. Then, count the number of letters, numbers and spaces in the longest line of your message. Viewing distance has a direct correlation with size and the amount of characters.

Accuform Signs Material Choices

Material Selection for Your New Safety Sign

Inside or outside? Environmental conditions will often dictate the material you choose. Select the material that is most appropriate for the environment which will surround your sign, label or tag.

We offer a comprehensive selection of custom sign materials to meet virtually every application and environmental demand.

The Importance of Your Header

Select a header that's most appropriate for the message you wish to communicate. Headers designate the degree of hazard severity of safety signs. Traditionally OSHA-Style signs and labels are the most widely recognized design format. They use upper case lettering and the message is generally centered underneath the header. Newer ANSI-Style signs and labels are gaining in popularity and are recognized by OSHA as an acceptable safety notification device.

Your Message or Legend

Your message (or legend) communicates the necessary action. It should be short and distinct. OSHA-Style sign formats continue to be the choice for selecting messages in safety signs.

ANSI-Style signs often include a visual alert symbol, a large symbol and left-justified upper and lower case message lettering. ANSI studies support improved comprehension as being quick and easy to see and understand.

Font or Type Face Selection

Consider using upper and lower case fonts, which are often easier to read.

Whether you choose an OSHA-Style or and ANSI-style, it's still your choice. Regardless of which font/typeface format you choose and even if you mix formats around your facility, be sure to train your employees and contractors on the importance of recognizing the hazards in your facility by understanding the signs to safety.
