The Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of labeling is an internationally agreed-upon system to bring consistent labeling of chemicals to a global level. All chemical manufacturers, importers, and distributors must ensure that each container of hazardous chemical leaving the workplace is correctly labeled, tagged, or marked. The required elements of GHS labels are: product identifier, signal word, pictograms, hazard statements, precautionary statements, and supplier identification.
