NFPA and HMCIS are the recognized and accepted, multi-color formats for identifying hazardous chemicals and materials.
The large color blocks are designed to point out important, required information quickly and easily. In both the NFPA and HMCIS styles, the formats differ in the topical areas: • Format 1 provides information space for Personal Protective Equipment, Precautionary, and First Aid; • Format 2 provides information space for Personal Protective Equipment.
How to Build Your Hazard Communication Notification Sign: • Choose Your Format: Formats are customizable templates available in NFPA and HMCIS styles. If there is specific information you would like to see added, moved, or not shown, provide us your requirements. • Fill in the Blanks: Provide us all the necessary information relating to your hazardous chemical. We have labeled each format so you know all the areas you need to fill in for a complete sign. Upon request, we can provide a blank layout to help you fill in the information. • Decide on the Sign Size: Think about where you will place your sign and the viewing distance required. Standard sizes are listed with each of the formats by part number. If you need a different size, provide us your sign dimension requirements. • Determine the Sign Material: Ask yourself where you will place your sign, how long it will be used, and what kind of elements it will need to withstand.
Whether you need a custom message or a personalized design with original imagery and logos, our "Yes, We Can!" approach will shine through when we create the right sign, label, tag, or floor marking solution for you.
