Serious injuries can occur when working with machinery and hand tools with parts that move toward each other. In fact, 80% of all hand injuries are caused by pinch points. OSHA cautions that if a worker gets caught in a pinch point, parts of his or her body may be mangled, crushed, or severed. To help prevent pinch points, OSHA requires using machine guarding and posting Pinch Point Signs. Alert those working with machinery and hand tools that pinch points are possible by posting Pinch Point Signs in the area they're operating the equipment. Remind others to keep hands clear, hand is near a pinch point, and to watch their hands with bold Pinch Point Signs.
