The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t make it to the playoffs, but in thrilling last-minute fashion, they managed to deliver an end-of-season victory to put some icing on what was a great day for some Hernando County children and their parents.
On December 31, 2017, Accuform sponsored 32 children and 16 adults to experience a joyous time at the Bucs final game of the year.
Each child was selected from Operation HeartF.E.L.T. (Feeding Empty Little Tummies), a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide nutritious meals to students and their siblings on weekends, holidays, and extended school break periods. However, their charitable donations and involvement don’t stop with providing food for children.
Every year, Accuform teams up with Operation HeartF.E.L.T to provide gifts for needy children in Hernando Country that otherwise wouldn’t have Christmas presents under their tree.
Last December, the entire Accuform team went on their annual charitable shopping trip and bought gifts for 50 children in the community. But Wayne Johnson, CEO of Accuform wanted to do more. He decided to go above and beyond and invite 32 children to experience their first Bucs football game.
Wayne and Operation Heartfelt determined that these children do not always get to experience things that many of us can take for granted, and this was their way of making some lifelong memories and provide a bonding opportunity for families.
Prior to the game, each parent or chaperone was handed a present they could give their child or children on Christmas morning. Inside each package, they found a ticket to the Bucs game, a Bucs jersey, and a $10 food voucher to spend at the game.
The group of 48 rode in style to the Bucs game in a large black van and were surprised with a huge “next-level” tailgate party when they showed up.
Wayne Johnson said, “It was exciting to see their faces and enthusiasm before the game – and the Bucs won!”
