Show Off Your Commitment to Safety in 2022!

Safe And Sound Week, Show off your commitment to safety

Participate in OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week and learn how to be "Best in Class!"

Have you ever thought about how much companies spend on workers’ compensation weekly? OSHA estimates that companies spend $1 billion weekly on workers’ compensation. Think of how you could better invest $1 billion instead of paying for something avoidable, such as accidents and injuries.

To motivate businesses to create a culture committed to safety, OSHA emphasizes the importance of a safety program by inviting all to show their commitment by participating in Safe + Sound Week, August 15th-21st.

Safe + Sound is a nationwide event that aims to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs. Workplaces can empower management leadership and worker participation to find a systematic approach to finding and correcting hazards in the workplace.

Businesses with a safety campaign – such as a safety and health program - are sustaining, thriving, and taking care of their workers.

Safety and health programs allow workers to identify and control job-related hazards that can lead to injuries and illnesses. When workers are provided with the tools and training, motivated to take action when they see a safety hazard, and understand the need to recognize hazards in the workplace, injuries and illnesses are significantly reduced.

Getting Started is Easy

To participate in Safe + Sound Week, select the activities you would like to do at your workplace. Get your employees excited by promoting the actions you’ve signed up for with your safety campaign. Read more about the importance of a safety campaign here.

According to OSHA, the safety and health program approach has been proven by “best in class” employers that have reduced injuries and illnesses and improved their business’ bottom line. While there are different approaches for every business, all adequate safety and health programs have the same three core elements:

  • Management Leadership – Top management commits to establishing, maintaining, and continually improving the program and provides any necessary resources.
  • Worker Participation – Effective programs involve workers in identifying solutions. Improved worker engagement is linked to better productivity, higher job satisfaction, and better worker retention.
  • A Systematic Find and Fix Approach – All effective programs are centered on a proactive process of finding and fixing hazards before they can cause injury or illness.
Safety and Health Programs Help Businesses:
  • Prevent workplace injuries and illnesses
  • Improve compliance with laws and regulations
  • Reduce costs, including significant reductions in workers’ compensation premiums
  • Enhance social responsibility goals
  • Increase productivity and enhance overall business operations

Once your business has completed an event, you can download a certificate and web badge to recognize your organization and your workers.
